Barangay Sta. Cruz
Barangay Sta. Cruz

The name Santa Cruz was given to the barrio in honor of the Holy Cross. Obviously, this came as a result of the Spanish influence. The place used to have many sitios, some of which grew to become barangays of their own.
In Sta. Cruz, there is a sitio called Lalum-atabay which literally means deep well. Residents of other places have to go to this area to  fetch water.

Another sitio in Sta. Cruz is called Caputatan. This name was taken from a kind of tree that grew abundantly there—putat. Thus, the name literally means a place where plenty of "putat" trees used to grow.
Jandi-liog is a place named after a popular rock that protrudes somewhere on the seashore. Based on local legend, it was said that a person by that name used to live here and that his neck which now lies on the seashore serves as a lasting remembrance.
